This little plant is found near sides of roads and in shady areas; they grow 20 inches tall and have an umbrella like top along with a small white flower that only blooms in May, hints the name! They are fully green, but you should not be eaten the fruit till they are yellow in late summer! There is no poisonous or similar/ look-alikes, but you should not use any part of the plant when it’s green. When ripe they will be yellow and you eat the egg shape or apple shape fruit under the plant canopy. Once they turn yellow they will start to fall over or die, and the fruit will fall off into your hand, which is another indicator when it’s ready to eat!

The blueberry is widely found in new Brunswick and all over eastern Canada the berry has a blue skin which may have a almost purple color in the light the bushes for these barriers are found almost any where I have found them in rocky areas and in marshy areas the berry of the bush is the only part you eat and can be harvested in large amounts to put in just about everything from cereal to muffins.
