ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight Review

ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewFor everyday carry you may not want to go with a large light like the ArmyTek Barracuda, but a good option would be the Predator PRO. The Predator PRO was sent to us for review by www.armytek.com. The Predator Pro produces over 670 lumens but with a much more compact size. At just a touch over 6 inches and 1.56 inches in diameter, the size is ideal for carrying on your belt or if you're looking for a rifle mountable tactical light.

ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewI like the feel of the ArmyTek Predator PRO. It's covered with a matte anodized, with a hardness of 350-400HV that is very resistant to impacts and scratching. It also leaves the light with an almost silky texture, which is not hard on your hands at all!

The Predator PRO has a water resistance rating of IPX-8, which is the highest rating over all. From the research I did on the different rating of water immersion, the IPX-8 will withstand continuous immersion in water beyond 1 meter and is hermetically sealed.

ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewWith your Predator PRO you get in the package one wrist lanyard, one MOLLE compatible sheath spare rubber gasket and a pocket clip. This light doesn't come with batteries which surprised me, as almost every light I have reviewed came with batteries right out of the box, but it can be a trade off because many others don't come with a sheath.

ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewMy favorite part of the ArmyTek Predator PRO is its operation; you have 4 main settings high, low, firefly and strobe which are built into memory. The lowest setting is called firefly, it's a very low setting which is great for reading maps and small tasks. It's only 0.1 lumens and can run for over 130 days using an 18650 rechargeable battery. This mode is awesome for a task light and at 130 days run time you don't have to worry about killing your battery! With the Predator PRO you get:

On high 670 Lumens with a 400 Meter beam and a run time of 1:20 min
Second mode 200 Lumens 7 hour run time
Third mode 70 lumens 20 hour run time
Fourth mode 6 lumens and 155 hour run time
Fifth mode 0.1 Lumens and 130 day run time

For the strobe mode I was not able to find a run time on the manual that came with the light or on Armytek website, but I assume it's a high setting so most likely it's around an hour.

ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewFor optics the Predator PRO is fitted with a lens that is made from ultra-transparent tempered glass which is anti-reflective and also is 98 to 99% transparent. The glass is similar to what is found in the lenses of photo equipment and at a high transparency same as with photo optics it allows more light to get into the camera, only with the Predator PRO it allows more light to get out, which increases its efficiency when putting out light!

ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewAll the operations of the Predator are done with a 1/8 turn counter clockwise then clockwise to switch then lock the setting in. Once this is done your light will start in what every setting you chose. It can seem confusing but once you use the light you soon see it's extremely simple and settings are easy to obtain in seconds. I do like the option to set the light in a mode and have it start with that mode each time, it saves you time not having tocycle though all 4 modes each time you turn the light on and if you're just doing map reading in a truck or something you don't want to get the huge burst of light each time you turn the light on. This can blind you, so in a way being able to set the light to low mode and keep it there also serves as a safety feature.

ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewAnother feature you could say is a safety feature or save your life feature depending on the operation you're on is the ArmyTek Predator PRO has a setting where if you give the tail cap a small quarter turn, this will lock the light so it can't turned on. It also disables the function where if you just slightly compress the button the light will come on and stay on while you're depressing the on off button slightly, then when you remove your finger it turns off all without having to click the button fully!

ArmyTek Predator Pro Tactical Flashlight ReviewI can tell you this feature is important, if you're in a situation where your sneaking up on someone, a bump of most tactical light buttons will give off a flash and could even get you shot or killed! Or if you're not in law enforcement this feature still can impact your life because I've had it happen, if you place the light with batteries in your pack and you don't have the feature that the Predator PRO offers, the button could become slightly compressed when packed and this will turn on your flashlight it will run all the time till dead, and nothing is worse if you're depending on it working later that night only to find it died on you.

ArmyTek boasts that the ArmyTek flashlights are the most technically advanced flashlights in the world and I can believe it. I've not run across any light that had the features and smart settings like this Predator has and the only light I have reviewed which comes close is the First-Light tomahawk, and the tomahawk will run you twice or more what the ArmyTek Predator PRO will!
